It’s difficult not to be a booster of historic Downtown Miami, because it’s impressive and continuously evolving. The goal of Miami’s planners is to transform Downtown, with its glittering skyline, into a tropical New York—pedestrian-friendly and always active. And it’s working; open-air malls and scenic shopping have seen increased foot-traffic. Downtown’s cultural institutions are world-class, and include the AmericanAirlines Arena, the Perez Museum, the Frost Museum of Science and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
